The historic guesthouse with a spa, gourmet kitchen and lovely gardens dates back to 1742. The interiors are simple yet stylish with a relaxed atmosphere. Choose to dine al fresco by the gardens on lovely summer days or for romantic dinners. There are also private dining areas that are ideal for private gatherings and celebrations.

The hosts focuses on creating their own modern version of French and local classics using the freshest produce and ingredients in Basel. Their menu often changes depending on what is fresh and in season but expect tasty servings of onion Strassburger soup, Viennese style cutlet of beef, langoustines in pumpkin foam, parmesan and truffle ravioli and many more indulgent dishes. The drink list offers local and European wines.

Gasthof Neubad Restaurant is open from Tue – Fri for lunch from noon until 2pm and Tue – Sat for dinner from 6pm – 11:30pm. (closed Sun and Mon).

Owners Benjamin Leuzinger and Gastro Gabriel Tenger opened their first location on Rheingasse and the pasta success has led to another location in the St. Johanns suburbs. There is no set menu because they offer freshly prepared pasta and homemade sauces made from what they are inspired with from fresh market produce everyday. Spinach lasagna, meaty pasta alla Salsiccia with fried sausage, and spaghetti Vongole are just some of the hearty pasta offerings that diners may enjoy when they visit. The place is almost always packed with diners so it is quite convenient that they have a take away option.
Santa Pasta is open Mon – Fri from 11:30am until 1:30pm. The Rheingasse location is open only for lunch but the new location in St. Johanns will also be open for dinner Tue – Sat from 6:30pm onwards.

There are plenty of family style seating and a long communal table but there are a few small tables for couples too. Usual Thai favourites like Pad Thai, green or red curried dishes, and satay can be found on the menu. Their chicken with cashew and duck in coconut curry sauce are a big hit. Make sure to try their ginger tea, lemon grass iced tea and ginger beer. Their brownies with coconut ice cream is simply irresistible but there are also less sinfully gratifying dessert options like mixed fruits. Take away ordering is also available.
