Paul Ainsworth at Number 6Paul Ainsworth at Number 6 Restaurant in Padstow is one of the Michelin Star rated restaurants in Cornwall owned by chef Paul Ainsworth. Paul (Gordon Ramsay’s protégé and also worked with Gary Rhodes) opened the restaurant in 2006 and hired head chef John Walton (worked with Marcus Wareing and Rick Stein) in 2008. It did take some time before they earned their coveted Michelin star in 2011 not long after his Great British Menu achievement for his fabulous Trip To The Fairground dessert that is a crowd pleaser at Number 6.

The menu features Cornish seasonal ingredients that are beautifully presented. Everything that they serve is homemade. The food is so delicious that you would want to try everything on the menu and you can too, without breaking the bank, because their pricing is unbelievably of great value compared to other local and Michelin rated restaurants. They also offer a good selection of wines by the glass or the bottle.

The restaurant is set in an 18th century town house modernized by contemporary and funky décor. Many candles are lit in the evenings so the eatery can get really romantic. There are two rooms that can accommodate up to 10 people that are ideal private dinner parties. Children age 4 and above are welcome.

Number 6 is open for lunch (noon – 2:30pm) and dinner (6pm – 10pm) from Tuesday to Saturday and closed on Sundays and Mondays.
