A must in the center of Madrid serving unbeatable Asturian cuisine. A favorite spot by the well heeled locals. Great spot for a formal business lunch/dinner or a special occasion.
On the extensive menu you will find “salpicon de bogavante” (cold lobster salad), “Albóndigas de Rabo de Toro“ (oxtail meatballs), “Medallones de Solomillo a la Mostaza” (Sirloin with Mustard) and the popular special thin “Tarta fina de manzana con helado de chocolate blanco “ (apple pie served with chocolate ice cream and the rice pudding cream). Third of the tree successful restaurants owned by the Rodruello family and ingeniously designed by PingPong Estudio, La Gabinoteca Restaurant in the Chamberi area of Madrid has been making big waves in the New Age Tapa scene since it opened in 2009.
The restaurant interior is definitely hip and avant-garde stylish but that is not what the hype is all about, the food is great too! Food offerings are comprised of classical tapas given an unexpected twist. Must try dishes include the Foie Gras Ravioli, Squid Bocadillo, huevo patata y trufa (truffled egg and potato dish served in a jar), Gambas Carpaccio, and Crema Catalan dessert enriched with Foie gras. Both the food and the ambiance at La Gabinoteca certainly are superb that even culinary legend Anthony Bourdain recently featured the gastrobar in his show.
La Gabinoteca is open Mon-Sat for lunch from 1pm – 4pm, and dinner 8:30pm ‘til midnight.
