Did you know that Portland is the birthplace of the new Preuvian food revolution? Andina restaurant in the bustling Pearl District of Portland is an exquisite eatery that offers Peruvian and North-western Andean fare. Owner Doris Rodriguez de Platt opened the restaurant in 2003 to pay tribute to her family’s Andean roots by using the freshest local ingredients in creating splendid Peruvian specialties. The ambiance her is relaxed’ the decor is swanky. Expect a large crowd of eclectic people stopping in for lunch after doing a tour of shopping areas and checking out the cultural scene in Pearl District or locals enjoying an evening meal before hitting the colourful nightclub scene in the area. There’s also eclectic live music entertainment at Andina but the star is of course the amazing food. Must try dishes include lomo saltado, pescado al rocoto (roasted fish served with sautéed vegetables and quinoa fried rice), various ceviches, grilled octopus kebobs in chimichurri, and bistec novoandino (filet mignon with oyster mushroom salad). The vast menu also offers gluten free, vegetarian, and great happy hour (4 – 6 pm) and bar menu.
It would be ideal to call Andina weeks in advance to make reservations. They are open daily from 11:30 am until midnight.
