The mountain side town of Bezau in the Bregenz Forest of Vorarlberg, Austria is a popular tourist destination because of its proximity to ski resorts, its numerous hiking trails, and charming traditional houses, and delightful bucolic scenery. The historic14th Century town that is easily accessible, in between Munich, Germany and Zurich, Switzerland, has numerous protected structures like old traditional houses like the Heimathaus farmhouse and town museum and the 1906 picturesque church that is dedicated to St. Jodok.
There are many hiking paths that one may traverse during the summertime. Visitors can go hiking, swimming, mountaineering, cycling, para-gliding, camping, and trout fishing. Wintertime brings 20 km of ski runs reachable from the peak of the gondola. The regional bus connects the town to the largest ski resort in Bregenzerwald just 5 km away. Bregenz, Schwarzenberg, and other nearby skiing towns of St. Christoph, Zurs, Stuben, Pettneu are also worth a visit. Explore the highland pastures by taking the gondola and the network of cable cars for panoramic views of the village from 1777 metres high up on the Niedere Alpe.
Bezau is accessible by a 1 hour minute bus ride from Dornbirn, which is 15 min south of Bregenz. Hourly buses to Bezau also depart from Schwarzenberg. If traveling by car then head south on A14 until you reach Route 200 junction, then take the winding uphill road to Bregenz.
