The Jockey Club Buenos Aires was founded in 1882 and was orginally a social club and an organisation formed to control national horseracing. Since 1935, there exists two different courses available for play at this exclusive club, the Red (Colorada) and Blue (Azul). Both were designed by the esteemed Alister MacKenzie. Although the course is predominantly flat, MacKanzie placed mounds and bunkers throughout the 6,700 yard Red Course, giving it a tricky layout and proving quite difficult to get a good score. It is best known for the one-shot 17th hole, which contains a green surrounded by two angled bunkers challenging even the best players. The Jockey Club is also intertwined in Argentine golf-lore with local heroes Roberto de Vicenzo and Angel Cabrera both notching wins adding to the illustrious history of this course.
