BUZIOS - the best insider tips for vacation, holiday & travel
Buzios is a charming picturesque fishing village in Brazil that is fast becoming a tourist hotspot because of its coastal charm, more than 20 pristine virgin beaches, distinctive architecture, and interesting past where slave traders and pirates used to have settled. Easily accessible by a two hour car ride from Rio de Janeiro, the famous French actress Brigitte Bardot came here in 1964 and it has become a famous European vacation spot since that is why there are more than one hundred inns, bed and breakfasts, and even luxurious boutique hotels in Buzios today. There is also an abundance of local and international restaurants, from Italian, French, Japanese, Thai, and even Moroccan cuisine making Buzios a great destination for epicureans. The cobblestone street of Rua Das Pedras is where one would find bars, live music entertainment, art galleries, boutiques, various crafts and jewelry shops, and nightclubs.
The virgin beaches of Buzios are simply breathtaking and each has its own unique characteristic. The long stretch of sand at Geriba beach is where wind surfers, boogie boardiers, and surfers enjoy the strong waves while Manguinhos beach has soothing calm waves ideal for sailing. Jaoa Fernandinho and Joao Ferradura beaches are closest to town so it is where most people go to for tanning, snorkeling, and simply enjoying the sandy shores and the Atlantic Ocean.
Buzios enjoys sunny beach weather throughout the year. The summer months of Dec-Mar are the busiest time and the tourist peak season so come around Sep-Nov if you want to avoid the influx of tourist crowd.
