Cypress Restaurant in the middle of Charleston’s historical district is a charming fine dining restaurant that is famous for its delightful charcuterie choices and the nouvelle American fare with French and Asian influences. The décor is simple yet elegant and the ambiance here is dynamic. The bar gets busy with diners having pre-dinner drinks and the bar also serves the full menu. They also have two private dining rooms upstairs that can be joined into one dining hall for intimate gatherings or special occasions.
Chef Craig Deihl uses lowcountry fresh ingredients in creating a wonderful seasonal menu. Specialties include wasabi crusted tuna and Angus fillet with homemade Boursin cheese. A vast choice of 80 artisan meats is on offer as well as 4,500 kinds of international fine wines.

 

The Cypress bar opens at 5 pm and daily dinner service starts at 5:30 pm until late.

Husk Restaurant in the historical district of Charleston may only have opened in late 2011 but it has become one of the most besotted dining spots since.  The centuries old 2 joined up buildings and the main dining room that was built in 1893 has gorgeous Victorian details.

 

Chef Sean Brock works on his daily changing menu with inspiration from locally sourced fresh ingredients. Wood oven baked cornbread, pig’s ear wrapped in lettuce, bison short ribs, and brown oyster stew are some of the frequent diner favourites. The desserts like oatmeal pie and grand Marnier soufflé are also said to be superb. The bar offers contemporary cocktails, wines and has an impressive collection of bourbon.

 

 

Husk is open for lunch (Mon-Sat 11:30 am – 2:30 pm), dinner (Sun-Thu 5:30 – 10 pm), and brunch (Fri-Sat 10 am – 2:30 pm). The bar is open from 4 pm onwards.

The jars of pickles on display and the wonderful scent of food wafting from the big firewood brick oven complete the rustic old shop feel.  

 

Chef and owner Kevin Johnson features the freshest locally sourced seasonal ingredients in making his culinary creations. The menu is divided into a few classifications – snacks, bites, sides, plates and table dishes for sharing. Fried oysters, beef short ribs, and whole roasted fish are frequent diner favourites. Their drink list is just as impressive with delicious concoctions of cocktails, wines, and beers on tap.
The Grocery is open for dinner on Tue-Sunday from 5pm until 11pm and for Sunday brunch from 10:30am – 2:30pm.
