CHILE - the best insider tips for vacation, holiday & travel
The Republic of Chile in South America is a narrow strip of line with five thousand kilometers Pacific Ocean shore line, inhabited by a vibrant mix of different backgrounds and cultures. The northern region is where one would find unique archeological ruins, stargazing opportunities at Collowara Observatory, the Andean highlands, and the world’s driest desert – The Altacama. Central Chile is where Valparaiso and the nation’s capital Santiago can be found – with tourist attractions like the ski resorts, wine vineyards at Rapel Valley, Robinson Crusoe’s Juan Fernandez Island, white river rafting at Maipo River, the hundreds of statues at Easter Island, Valparaiso resorts and beaches, Pre-Colombian Art Museum, and the Cerro San Cristobal giant statue of Virgin Mary. The southern regions of Chile also has interesting places like the UNESCO Heritage site at the Chiloe islands, the lake district where tourists go for trekking, kayaking, and fly fishing by volcanoes and alpine lakes, jagged ice peaks of Torres de Paine and the Chilean Antarctica with its glaciers, fjords, and ice bergs.
The climate in Chile varies per region and the ideal time to visit also differs depending on which areas are to be visited. The best time to go to the southern Chilean regions is from December to February when the temperature is at its warmest. Tourists who are visiting the central and northern regions can enjoy Chile throughout the year.
