Amass Restaurant (a must do) in Copenhagen's new cool neighbourhood the Meatpacking District or "Meat City" by Chef Mathew Orlando former headchef at Noma restaurant (also worked at Le Manoir and The Fat Duck), offers a trendy and stylish ambiance coupled with sumptuous seasonal cuisine. The modern eatery is set in what used to be a 736 sqm shipyard in Copenhagen’s Refshaleøen district. The loft style interior, with a generally black and grey theme with a hint of green, is simple yet fashionable. There is also a lovely butterfly mural on one wall, and modern wrought iron modern chairs and tables. The modern look was created by Sofie Brünner and Jacob Gubi of the Gubi design team.  Diners are able to see the goings on in the open kitchen and even the restaurant’s office space. The 500 sqm garden (where they source many of their greens) is also visible from the dining room. For a more romantic effect, sit near the window because they light a bonfire in the garden at night and it gives off a quixotic effect. If you feel like meeting new friends then ask to be seated at the long smoked oak communal tables.

The prix fixe menu features fresh seasonal ingredients so it changes daily. Expect dishes like langoustines and roast chicken skin served on different kinds of vegetables, smoked foie gras served with watercress and plum, and cod head rilletes. Amass is open for lunch on Fridays and Saturdays from noon until 4 pm, and for dinner Tue-Sat from 6pm until midnight. Make sure to book days in advance.

Nouveau, Inventive, and Innovative are just a few words that come to mind when describing the 2 Michelin star clad restaurant Geranium in Copenhagen. Situated on the 8th floor of the Fælledparken, the simple yet stylish restaurant offers great views of Parken stadium, the town, and you can even see as far as Sweden when the sky is clear.  No wonder it was voted one of the top most restaurants in Denmark for 2013. he lovely dining room seats 45 but they have a private dining area that can accommodate up to 120 guests and is perfect for private functions. They also have a modish lounge bar perfect for aperitifs.

The main attraction here is the delectable innovative cuisine delightfully presented like artworks on a plate by Chef Rasmus Kofoed featuring the freshest in season organic ingredients. Most preparations are adorned with edible flowers making the dishes all the more stunning. The restaurant is so in demand that reservations need to be made at least 3 months in advance! Mielcke & Hurtigkarl located in Copenhagen's new cool neighbourhood the Meatpacking District, Kødbyen or also "Meat City" is a fabulous dining hotspot that features in season organic ingredients in creating simply delicious avant-garde cuisine that look like artworks on plates. The chefs draw inspiration from the beautiful setting of the restaurant in a beautiful sunroom by the Danish Royal Gardens. The interiors are just as modern as the food with silver spoon artwork by the entrance, walls with floral decal, floor to ceiling glass windows, and cascading chandeliers that look like shimmering teardrops. Al fresco dining is available too and is ideal for summertime.

The nature inspired chefs, Jan Hurtigkarl and Jakob Mielcke, create playful and inventive seasonal dishes as expressions of their passion for organic bounty. Their style is defined as nouveau Nordic with subtle French and Asian influences. Unexpected surprises await diners like the dish that looks like devilled eggs but it is in truth foie gras on pastry topped with raspberry. There are options for the prix fixe menu - an Experience (5-7 courses) and The Full Experience (7-10 courses). Very interesting wine pairings are suggested by excellent sommelier Jose Santos.

Restaurant Mielcke & Hurtigkarl is open for lunch from noon until 4pm, and dinner from 6 – 10 pm in April-September. They are open for dinner only in October through March. Booking weeks in advance is highly recommended.

Paté Paté from the guys behind eveer popular "Bibendum" in Copenhagen’s modish meatpacking district is a great gastropub with a cool vibe. Sibling owners Dan and Kenn Husted owns several other successful establishments (wine bars and cafes) in town. Don’t be intimidated by the mounted skull by the doorway because this leads to cool interiors using plenty of remodeled materials. They used vintage windows to divide the huge former pate factory space and salvaged wood to built communal tables. Mismatched chairs, wallpaper made from old black and white magazines, and modern Danish light fixtures create a stylish vintage look. It’s an ideal spot to meet friends for leisurely boozed up lunches and bustling weekend late dinners.

The daily changing menu offers rustic European bistro fare served tapas style with French, Moroccan, and Spanish flavour influences. Their extensive drink list is comprised of international fine wines and boutique beers so diners are spoilt for choices.

Paté Paté is open daily from 9 am until 1 am (until 3 am on Fri/Sat nights).

BROR opened in 2013 when two former Noma sous chefs Samuel Nutter (Englishman) and Victor Wagman (Swedish) decided to express their own take on modern Nordic Cuisine. The trendy eatery which name translates to “brother” is located in the hip Latin Quarter. Their menu is described as innovative and comforting using traditional (seaweed, foraged plants and roots), simple, but flavor packed ingredients. Their lamb’s brain and chicken liver are frequent diner favourites.

Their natural wine selection may not please all avid wine drinkers but at least you can try various kinds without breaking the bank because their wines, as well as the food, are surprisingly affordable compared to restaurants of the same caliber.
Bror is open Wed-Sun from 5:30 until midnight. Reservations are best made at least a week in advance.
Insider Tip – the trendy 46-seater eatery is a great option for affordable delicious eats and even though it is almost always packed, the atmosphere is still quite relaxed.

Restaurant KUL in Copenhagen's new cool neighbourhood the Meatpacking District or "Meat City" owned by chefs Christian Mortensen and Henrik Jyrk offers a fresh concept fine dining that makes it affordable for the average Joe. The restaurant name means coal so most of the menu offerings are cooked on the grilled (Yakitori style and charcoal fired grills). The interiors follow the charcoal idea with a simple and sleek black and white theme. They also have a space which can accommodate 14-20 people for private events and this comes with a private entrance and your own set of waiters.

The international menu is comprised of small pick and choose petite plates, but there are a few bigger sized dishes for sharing too. 3 dishes and a yummy dessert are tantamount to an average meal. Expect flavoursome dishes like Iberico ham with squid tempura served with black aioli, veal sweetbreads with chipotle and broccoli, and wild shrimp with a salad of cilantro and avocado.

KUL is open daily for lunch from noon until 3 pm, and for dinner from 6 - 10 pm. Weekend brunch starts at 11 am. Making a reservation is advised but there are also plenty of seats by the window sills and the bar for walk-ins.

Restaurant Pluto in Copenhagen's new cool neighbourhood the Meatpacking District or "Meat City" is the perfect eatery for savouring unpretentious food that will surely hit the palate’s sweet spot (the salty, bitter, and tangy spots too!). The interior is very simple with exposed beams, plain hanging lamps, wooden chairs, wrought iron tables with wooden tops, and a decent sized area, but the vibe here is quite lively mostly because it is always jam packed. There are tables outside too but they sometimes get so full that they set up tables and chairs even on the street. That’s a huge clue of how good the food must be. Owners Jesper Marcussen and Rasmus Oubæk have truly outdone themselves by opening this simple family style eatery.

The menu offers small plates that can be mixed and matched. The best option is to go for the tasting menu comprised of 12 different dishes. The plates aren’t served one by one so diners can experience various tastes and combinations. Expect adventurous plates comprised of bone marrow, tongues, hearts, livers, and esgargots. There are also seafood and shellfish creations so diners can experience everything from land, air and sea. The foie gras with braised ox tail is a must try.
Pluto is open Mon-Fri for lunch from noon until 3 pm, and for dinner Mon-Sat from 5:30 – late (kitchen orders only until 11 pm but the bar stays open until midnight on weekdays and 2 am on weekends).
