Dining at celebrity chef Jamie Oliver’s Fifteen Italian inspired restaurant by Watergate Bay Hotel in Newquay is a must when visiting Cornwall. Pop in for a hearty breakfast of Cornish sausage, grilled mushrooms, beans and eggs fry up, have a leisurely lunch by the terrace while taking in the magnificent views of Watergate Bay, have a sinfully delicious afternoon tea, or share a romantic meal with a loved one; what matters is that you try their excellent and beautifully presented moreish cuisine. Paul Ainsworth at Number 6 Restaurant in Padstow is one of the Michelin Star rated restaurants in Cornwall owned by chef Paul Ainsworth. Paul (Gordon Ramsay’s protégé and also worked with Gary Rhodes) opened the restaurant in 2006 and hired head chef John Walton (worked with Marcus Wareing and Rick Stein) in 2008. It did take some time before they earned their coveted Michelin star in 2011 not long after his Great British Menu achievement for his fabulous Trip To The Fairground dessert that is a crowd pleaser at Number 6.

The menu features Cornish seasonal ingredients that are beautifully presented. Everything that they serve is homemade. The food is so delicious that you would want to try everything on the menu and you can too, without breaking the bank, because their pricing is unbelievably of great value compared to other local and Michelin rated restaurants. They also offer a good selection of wines by the glass or the bottle.

The restaurant is set in an 18th century town house modernized by contemporary and funky décor. Many candles are lit in the evenings so the eatery can get really romantic. There are two rooms that can accommodate up to 10 people that are ideal private dinner parties. Children age 4 and above are welcome.
Number 6 is open for lunch (12 – 2:30 pm) and dinner (6 – 10 pm) from Tuesday to Saturday and closed on Sundays and Mondays.

Their waterfront terrace is great for having leisurely lunches and afternoon tea, but the simple yet stylish predominantly white indoor dining area also enjoys the beautiful seafront views. Sam’s in Fowey is a fun place to enjoy fresh diner-style pub fare when visiting Cornwall. The atmosphere here is very lively, just like the colourful interiors with green and pink booths and many pop and rock memorabilia hanging on the walls (BTW these items are for sale). The vivacious eatery had been around for more than 25 years mainly because of their famous burgers – try the hearty Scooby burger with bacon, egg, cheese, and pineapple or the salmon fillet burger. They have added other non burger offerings over time including plenty of seafood and some chicken dishes. It really is the ideal spot to take the family for a filling lunch. They also have a bar and lounge up on the 2nd floor where 20 more guests may order food and enjoy refreshing cocktails until late in the evening.

Enjoy great vibe, good music, fresh seafood, succulent burgers, and other mouthwatering dishes at Sam’s all throughout the year. The kitchen is open daily from 11 am until 11 pm but the bar and lounge is open until 1 am.
