Cowley Manor in the Churn Valley near Cheltenham is the perfect place to relax and rejuvenate while being surrounded by 55 acres of rivers, lakes, ponds, meadows, woods, natural springs and Victorian cascades. If it is your first time there then the contrast between the classic Victorian façade and the very modern interiors might come as a surprise. Pastel colours, bold prints, handmade fabrics and furnishings, cowhide window seating, baboons made of papier-mâché prism, crystals hanging on the ceilings, hunting trophies, and other funky touches give 30 room hotel a clubby contemporary ambiance.

The dining room however, has retained its original charm and gets really romantic especially at night when the lit candles glimmer against the sleek floor to ceiling oak paneling. The view of the surroundings alone is very soothing but there is also an award winning spa for total relaxation. There is also a gym, a library, billiards room, indoor and outdoor pool, and a lovely terrace. The restaurant is open for breakfast, dinner, and weekend brunches, offering British contemporary fare featuring locally sourced ingredients prepared by talented Chef Mathew Cuthbert.
