Price: £ 8-12 starters/small dishes; £ 15-32 main course; £ 26-31 set lunch
Coya at the Picadilly in Mayfair is a contemporary Peruvian restaurant that offers more than just great tasting Latin American food, the eatery also gives diners a hefty serving of Peruvian culture, design, and music. The classy restaurant is owned by famous restaurateur Arjun Waney (a partner at Zuma and Roka) and Chef Sanjay Dwivedi sits at the helm of the fancy eater that has multiple dining areas and a members’ only bar. The entire restaurant is festooned with Incan colours, Latin overtones, contemporary metallic finishes, and vivid murals.
An open grill by the tiradito and ceviche bar sits in the middle of the main theatre like dining room and there is also a pisco bar that serves sumptuous pisco cocktails and more than 40 kinds of tequilas. A private dining area with its own smoking terrace is ideal for intimate gatherings. Apart from the usual sea bream, ceviche, and tiradito Peruvian favourites, dishes like Sirloin with chimichurri, potato and asparagus bravas, costillas de chanco (juicy pork ribs in tamarind glaze), and pechuga de pato (duck breast in tasty soy sauce) are crowd pleasers.
Make sure to call Coya to make a reservation either for lunch (noon until 3pm) or dinner (6 – 11 pm) from Mondays thru Saturdays.
