DAVOS - the best insider tips for vacation, holiday & travel

Known internationally as the largest outdoor resort in the Alps, Davos and Klosters has been regarded as a top travel destinations for mountain holidays. Davos is generally a famous convention site where sports enthusiasts gather for thrill and adventure, it has also been a venue of the World Economic Forum for several years. Davos is accessible by air via the Zurich International Airport. From Zurich, it’s a 3 hour train ride or 2 hours bus/car ride. Klosters is well known for being Prince Charles' favourite ski resort.
 

During winter, Davos and Klosters are providing a perfect setting for some snow and skiing activities. With an altitude ranging from 1124 to 2844m, it offers 320km of slopes, 54 ski lifts, 75km cross-country ski tracks, the largest natural ice rink in Europe, and 2 artificial ice-skating rinks. Run a sledge in snowy side valleys, take a ski to visit the neighboring resort of Klosters, and experience snowboarding at half-pipe and monster pipe features of Jakobshom – these are just some of the must do’s to top the list . Summers in Davos are equally exciting. Cable cars provide beautiful sceneries along the way until it gets to your preferred hiking destination. Davos Lake serves as an area for swimming, sailing, and surfing. Hang-gliding and paragliding are also worth trying. If seeking a more relaxed adventure, anyone can head off the unspoilt nature on foot, by bike, or through a horse-drawn carriage for that romantic atmosphere.
 

Davos & Klosters’ climate has been known for its healing qualities. Its 1000 to 1500 meters above sea level altitude is high enough for a balanced cortisone distribution which is very beneficial for patients with heart problems.  Temperature during winter averages at 0° at daytime and -10° at nighttime. Summer temperature is ideal, with an average of 20° during the day and 5° at night. August is the wettest month of the year, while April is the driest.
