East Coast Lagoon Village Singapore
East Coast Lagoon Village - review by Nicole Allmann
Style: Hawker Food Stalls
1220 East Coast Parkway
Area: Singapore Botanical Gardens
Price: SGD $6-20 per dish
The East Coast Lagoon Village offers an authentic Singaporean hawker style foodie experience for both tourists and locals alike. The seaside eatery mostly attracts groups and families who want to enjoy various local food preparations, refreshing juices, and the beach without having to break the bank. There are many food shops and stalls that offer various local specialties and wooden tables and benches dotted around the seaside village. The hawker centre is open from 8 am until 9 pm and gets very busy for lunch and dinner so try and come during off peak dining hours to be able to get a table.
Expect to be served food on disposable plastic plates and cups and remember to bring a packet of moist towelettes. Enjoy grilled fish and crustaceans like huge tiger prawns, satay cuttlefish, stingray, plus other Malayan favourites like chili crab, spicy chicken wings, sautéed mixed vegetables, and plenty of rice and noodle dishes. Must try refreshments include sugarcane juice and fresh coconut juice.
