Tourist and locals flock to A Lorcha restaurant in Macau to enjoy hearty meals and generous portions of scrumptious Portuguese favourites. It is one of the famous eateries in town that is not located within a five star resort and there may not be a single Portuguese server in sight but the ambiance and the food is quite authentic. Low arched ceilings and somber lighting boucing off white washed walls complete the Portuguese cozy feel. Stars on the menu include codfish feijoda, char grilled prawns, chourico assado grilled sausage, beef samosa, and pig ear salad. The rice dishes like arroz de marisco mixed with seafood and arroz chau chau with various kinds of meats are also must try dishes. A good array of Portuguese wines and luscious desserts are also on offer.

A Lorcha serves lunch and dinner daily from 12:30 ‘til 3:30 pm and from 7 – 11:30 pm at night. Calling at least 2 days in advance to make reservations are advised.

The bustling restaurant also serves as a regular meeting place for Portuguese expat community around Macau. The resto has a rustic charm with walls of blue and white tiles, murals of Portuguese dancers, and various pictures and sketches adorn the walls. The generously portioned hearty meals would either make Portuguese expats feel homesick or ease their longing for traditional fare like their grandmothers back home would prepare.
