Mandarin Oriental, Prague is beautifully surrounded by peaceful gardens of Male Strana, near the central city area but tucked away from noisy tourist crowds. It is not small, but distribution of rooms in several wings of the 14th monastery building provides an intimate atmosphere. The location below Prague Castle is perfect for romantic getaways and honeymoons. The onsite Essensia restaurant is also romantic with its pure virgin like white-washed walls and Renaissance style vaults. To make an interesting contrast, designers introduced some minimalist contemporary details. Sample na interesting menu comprising Czech and Asian dishes. Evenings are reserved for ultra trendy courtyard bar Barego, voted as the best national bar in 2011. Mingle with the locals and globe trotters alike while enjoying drinks and light Asian fare. Don’t miss out on Beijing duck spring rolls. Mandarin Oriental, Prague also has an award-winning spa, voted the best in Europe by Luxury Spa Finder. Its serenity comes from being placed within a former monastery chapel. Enjoy complete privacy in one of the six spa suites with heat, steam and water facilities, superb treatments and massages. The complex also includes a fitness centre. Choose from 5 categories of luxury rooms and 5 categories of lavish suites, the most prestigious of which is Presidential Penthouse suite set in a corner tower  of the monastery building, providing panoramic views.

Pretty solid and fairly swanky for downtown Prague. The decor and ambiance are urban chic, and are consistent with the extremely well outfitted rooms and impeccable service. I'm not sure why I couldn't pull the trigger on 5 stars here. I'd absolutely stay here again, but the price tag and being 3 blocks from the nearest station somehow overcame the other good factors and convenient location to keep me at 4.
