A labour of love since the early 2000's, this lofty, 246 year-old barn conversion, just 30 minutes drive from Salzburg, has grown from humble beginnings to become one of the most popular organic restaurants in the state. Its distinctive Alpine chalet styling reflects Chef Hoagascht's dream of creating a Zen-like atmosphere for guests, emphasising the region's repute for fair trade products and exquisite craftsmanship with statement artwork and sculptures dotted throughout. Slated by critics as Austria's most envisioned organic eatery, Restaurant Hoagascht sources nearly all its ingredients from accredited organic sources - or their own back garden.
From the Fillet of Highland Cattle sourced from local farmers, to fish cultivated in the restaurant pond, the authenticity of Hoagascht's organic produce is traceable from field to plate. Modern, with a folksy twist, Rotis include the infamous Pork with Crested Styrian Root and Vinegar Carrots, Potted Cabbage Curry and highly recommended Chanterelle Ravioli with Arugula. A sensational selection of Austrian-inspired sweets, the Patisserie menu is not to be sniffed at.
