With a rich history dating back to 704 and having structures that was built in the 10th century, Wurzburg is indeed a very interesting city to explore. Visit the Romanesque Cathedral of Dom St. Killian, the city’s oldest structure – the Baroque Fortress Marienberg, the infamous Residence Palace which is a UNESCO World Heritage site, the Röntgen Laboratory where the x-ray machine was first built, or browse through many museums within Wurzburg.
Wurzburg is not only for wine connoisseurs and history buffs, the city has so much to offer with its bustling nightlife, colourful music and art scene, diverse gastronomy and shopping options, and many exciting festivities - the Wurzburg Wine Fest and Hofgarten Weinfest for wine enthusiasts; the Mozartfest, Africa Music Festival, and Open Air Music Festival for the art fans. The best time to visit Wurzburg is from June to August (spring to fall) when daytime temperature averages from 60-85 °F, and is also when most of the festivities are held. There are no airports within Wurzburg but it is only a short drive or train ride form Nurnberg, Munich, or Frankfurt airports.
