1888 Hotel Sydney in the city’s Pyrmont district near the historic Darling harbour offers a gorgeous boutique hotel stay set in a heritage listed building that used to be a wool storage structure built in the year 1888. After a 30 million dollar restoration, there are now 90 trendy rooms with an industrial chic feel and period furnishings. The lobby with a 5 storey atrium and indoor tree, the dedicated “selfie” photo taking spot, and original art pieces from local artists truly makes the hotel Instagram picture worthy. In fact, they encourage guests to posts instagram snapshots of the hotel and the surrounding sights.
The hotel’s rustic Eatery and Bar serves an opulent buffet style breakfast, period inspired wholesome cuisine for lunch and dinner, and the bar is an evening hotspot serving various brews from local distillers. Their breakfast in bed options are scrumptious and room services is also available throughout the day. There is no pool on site but guests have access to excellent facilities at the nearby Ian Thorpe Aquatic Centre.
