Banyan Tree Mayakoba
The Banyan Tree Mayakoba is located in Mayakoba, on the Riviera Maya. This is the first Banyan Tree resort outside of Asia. The central point of the whole complex is a building that has been created in the shape of a large pagoda; this houses the lobby and restaurants. The complex consists of 132 luxurious private villas, each with their own swimming pool. They have been built in an Asian style and decorated in earthy colors. The grounds are dominated by an abundance of tropical plants, interspersed with mangroves and lagoons, and the beautiful Caribbean Sea.
This is the first Banyan Tree Spa on this side of the world, and therapists have been trained at the Thailand Spa Academy. The resort offers a range of spa treatment pavilions, numbering 16 in total. The spa focuses on treatments that involve couples, with a focus on improving the well-being of both partners.
A holistic approach is taken indicating an emphasis on typical Eastern healing methods. There are four restaurants at the Banyan Tree Mayakoba. Guests can have a private cook come over to the villa, as well as organize for a Spa therapist to come right up to the villa. Within the villa is a range of sliding doors that transform spaces. Guests with disabilities can be catered for.
