The PUBLIC hotel is a luxurious hotel located in Chicago’s Gold Coast area, located only two blocks from Lake Michigan. The restaurants and bars of Rush Street are located only 3 blocks away. North Avenue Beach and the Magnificent Mile are a short half mile away from the hotel.
The deisgn hotel has been designed by Ian Schrager, and contains 285 guestrooms housed in a 17 story structure. The rooms are fitted in style with beds covered in Frette linens from Italy as well as down-filled pillows and comforters. The bathrooms have been finished in marble and contain bathtubs, and custom made vanities. The room includes a mini bar, 42 inch LCD TV, iPod docking station and complimentary WiFi Internet access.
There is a restaurant on site called The Pump Room, and a bar. This restaurant has a long history of celebrities at its tables, including Humphrey Bogart and Judy Garland. Restored by the current award-winning Chef, Jean-Georges Vongerichten, the restaurant still is one of the hottest places to eat at in Chicago. Reservations are needed well in advance. The on-site bar, The Library, serves enticing cocktails which can be served while waiting for a table to open up at The Pump Room.
