Sparrows Lodge in South Palm Springs offers a hacienda style secluded desert hideaway where one can unplug and unwind. We say “unplug” because there are no televisions or telephones, but there is of course free Wi-Fi. There are 20 spacious rooms with cozy beddings, crisp linens, fore places, concrete floors, and repurposed horse through tubs. The lobby leads to a converted barnyard bar that opens up to a large pool and lounge area surrounded by over a dozen loungers, a hot tub.
The central courtyard has a tree lined communal table, a lush vegetable garden, a bocce area, and a fire pit ideal for evening gatherings and roasting marshmallows. A healthy breakfast of fresh fruit juices, granola, berries, yogurt, muffins, bagels, jams and the like are served at the barnyard and refreshing treats like iced lollipops and bon bon ice creams are served around the pool area throughout the day. Sparrows Lodge still has its 50’s charm back when actor Don Castle first opened it as a Hollywood elite retreat where fashionable people played tennis and horseshoes, but the specialty cocktails, microbrews, and spritzy bubbly offered at the breezy open bar gives it a very modern outdoorsy vibe.
