Jewish Chef and owner Jason Marcus (of Eleven Madison Park and Le Bernardin fame) cleverly presents delicious soul food at Traif Restaurant. The name translates to ‘non-kosher’ in Yiddish so expect plenty of shellfish, seafood, dairy, and pork offerings. Diners have added entertainment of watch the talented chef at work in the open kitchen. There is a lovely mural in the main dining area, but there is also outdoor seating in the garden room that looks out onto a lush landscaped backyard.
The seasonal menu offers modern versions of the usual sou lfood dishes like crispy pork belly served with kiwi, Thai papaya and chili vinaigrette, or steak with potato latkes and king crab in béarnaise sauce, and octopus paella. Make sure to try his famous bacon doughnuts!
