Daylesford OrganicDaylesford Farm shop and Café near the honey-hued village of Kingham in the Costwolds offers a unique countryside organic meal. It started out as an organic farm and restaurant, but has grown over the past decade into a boutique, garden and home ware shop, bakery, creamery, cottages, and even has a luxurious spa on site. It is possibly the most famous farm shop in the UK with celebrity tweets from the likes of Liz Hurley and Kate Moss enjoying their meals here, adding to its recognition.

The whitewashed walled barn is where one would find the lively dining hall. The seasonal menu features organic ingredients with dishes like herb and parmesan crusted lamb, grilled sea trout, and charcoal grilled hanger steak. There are of course many dairy free, gluten free, and vegetarian options. There’s also a pizza bar on weekends.

The Daylesford Farm shop and Café is open from 9am on weekdays until 6pm and from 10am until 4pm on weekends (and for supper from 7pm until late Fri/Sat/Sun)

Horse & GroomHorse and Groom in the Cotswolds is a traditional English inn with an upscale pub that offers wonderfully delicious traditional and inventive pub grub. Sibling owners Tom and Will Greenstock have bagged many awards for their chalkboard menu that changes ever so often. It is a great place to enjoy a hearty lunch and a merry supper with the friendly locals. The interiors are cozy and inviting having an open fireplace, many pictures hanging on the walls, and contemporary furnishings.

Tom runs the front of house and ensures all guests have a wonderful experience while Will cleverly puts together the freshest in season ingredients in creating the mouthwatering meals for the day. Expect dishes like beer battered hake, Moroccan spiced lamb koftas, griddled rib-eye steak, old spot pork belly, and roasted cod fillet. Diners are given a choice of their potato side dish and the mails are served with fresh vegetables. Make sure to leave some space for their scrumptious puddings. The bar offers the usual tipple, regularly changing guest ales, beers (including Premium Costwolds Larger), and select wine choices.

Horse and Groom Pub is open from Mon-Sat from noon until 2pm for lunch, and from 7pm – 11pm for dinner, and only for lunch from noon until 2:30pm on Sundays.

The Swan at Southrop set in the charming Leach Valley of the tranquil Cotswolds village offers an upscale traditional English pub atmosphere and delicious fare featuring locally sourced and foraged ingredients.

The pub with an inn is quintessentially English in many ways – it has a traditional skittle alley, welcoming open fires, cottage accommodations, and a private dining room that can accommodate up to 50 diners.

The private dining room is noteworthy having a piano, beamed ceiling, and gleaming chandeliers. The main dining room has walls adorned by contemporary artwork, welcoming log fires, and Persian rugs.

The menu changes as often as the season with hearty dishes like foie gras parfait, cassoulet, Cornish fish stew, braised ox cheek, and pheasant breast to name a few. Sundays are extra special with a huge brunch feast and two Sunday roasts.

The Swan at Southrop is open throughout the week from noon until 2:30pm for lunch (until 3pm on weekends) and from 6PM – 9pm for dinner.

The Wild Rabbit Pub has been called the poshest pub in all of the UK not only because of its chic interior décor, but also because of its ambitious menu.

Fresh flowers, aptly spaced tables, welcoming open fires, handcrafted furniture, and a skylight that brightens up the dining room creates a classy country house ambiance.

Next to the dining room is a beautiful private dining area that has a wood fired oven and its own dedicated staff which is most ideal for private parties. There is also a terrace should guests want to dine al fresco.

The menu prepared under the watchful eye of talented chef Adam Caisley (worked in Guy Savoy in Paris) features artisan seasonal and mostly organic ingredients. Dishes like roast monkfish with Provencal greens, Open face goat’s cheese ravioli, and rump of spring lamb served with sweetbreads and girolles, and ham wrapped stuffed rabbit are just some of the scrumptious offerings. Diners may choose to order from a wide range of fine wines by the glass or by the bottle, and the bar also offers a good selection of artisan beers in bottles and on tap.

The Wild Rabbit Pub/Restaurant is open from Tue – Sun from noon until 2:30pm for lunch, and from 7pm – 9pm for dinner. Making reservations weeks in advance is highly recommended.

The restaurant at Wheatsheaf Inn is a handsomely decorated tavern that offers simple, seasonal, and rustic English pub fare. Varnished floors, glowering paintings, taxidermy mounted on the walls, an open fire, and clever lighting create an old world meets classic contemporary ambiance.

Apart from the main dining room, there are three private dining rooms that are ideal for large groups; and they do not even charge for room hire.

Chef Anthony Ely (from London ’s Square and Mirabelle) prepares a daily changing menu featuring seasonal local ingredients. Expect generous portions of hearty dishes like whole roasted farm chicken, steak and ale pie, and fresh seafood offerings like langoustine, lobster, and Atlantic prawns. Their bar has an impressive roster of 400 wines and 15 beers from all over the globe, plus 3 artisan brews on tap. Make sure to leave some space for dessert because their puddings are to die for!
