Sant Amboroeus in Southampton, New York is pasty and gelato heaven. This shop opened in 1992 (there are two others in NYC) but it was recently redesigned by Robert McKinley to be classy and cozy. They are known for having the best gelato in the continent so that’s the first thing diners see as they enter followed by cakes and pastries encased in glass (yummmm…drool). There’s lush vine covered courtyard that is the perfect spot for brunch and afternoon tea. Apart from the paninis, cappuccino, gelato, and pastries, entrées like truffled fillet mignon, spicy grilled salmon, and veal Milanese are highly recommended.
The family run Italian Restaurant and Bakery will most certainly be jam-packed all day long during busy Southampton summers but they are open daily from 9 am until 11 pm so try to come by during non-peak hours. Who knows, you might bump into celebrities like Donna Karen, Marc Jacobs or Calvin Klein who are loyal patrons.
