Madame Hien

Madame HienMadam Hien in Hanoi offers authentic regional fare and a lovely artful venue in the old quarter set in a French colonial building that was formerly the Spanish Embassy designed by Francois Lagisquet, the same architect who built the Hanoi Opera House. The artful interiors are very pleasing, with red lit lanterns, luxurious furnishings, and al-fresco dining area which can be very romantic. It is the perfect spot to get away from the hustle and bustle of the busy town. The classy eatery is also ideal for business lunches and their free wi-fi is a plus factor.

Chef Didier Corlou, also of La Verticale restaurant fame, prepares time honoured Vietnamese cuisine from various parts of the country and drew inspiration from his wife’s grandmother’s recipes. Dishes iike Nem Com Nieu (grilled suckling pig), Bahn Cuon, lemongrass flavoured goie gras, banana flower salad, and crab noodle soup are just some of the most in demand menu choices. They also have a good selection of wines.

Madam Hien is open daily from 10:30am to 11pm. Making reservations at least a couple of days in advance is advised.
