Style: Modern Picnic in Culver City

A-FrameLeave pretension at the door is the motto here. It is everything you like about the  L.A. food truck movement: Loud , bustling and communal tables. A place to let your guard down and get your hands dirty.

Walking in you’ll be greeted and sat down in the communal mess hall, which allows you to make friends with others at your table, and  believe me, you’ll be eying their furikake-laced popcorn, crispy beer-can chicken, and messy whole fried lobster. Bartenders here make the best mixed drinks, they have a great selection of liquors, enough to help loosen you up for the night.

This isn’t the place for stuffy people, this is where you come to let loose, have some fun, and meet other awesome people like yourself! One of the best things about the place, is taking your sweetheart to a table out on the patio around the bonfire, for a cuddle and some great food. You won’t need a reservation here, just come as you are and have a great night with friends.

Lunch is served on Saturday and Sunday only from 12pm – 3pm,  and dinner starts at 5pm every day.

Mastro’s Steakhouse

Style: High End Steakhouse For the Industry & Rodeo Crowd

Mastro's Steakhouse

Since being founded in 1999, in Scottsdale, Mastro’s has been described as a top 10 steakhouse in the U.S. By Gayot, and Los Angeles Times said that Mastro’s was a “high end” steakhouse.

With their constant striving for excellence in ambiance, service, and food, it’s no wonder Los Angeles Daily News calls them “masterful.” If you are looking for that perfect place to go for your next special occasion, then look no farther than Mastro’s. Just read their menu and try not to drool! I especially love the Jumbo Lump Crab Stuffed Mushrooms appetizer, so sweet and buttery. My husband is a BIG steak guy, and he swears by the Porterhouse, it’s thick, juicy, and it’s always cooked to perfection.

If you’re wanting to go the extra mile, look at reserving a private dinning room, they can accommodate 2 – 500 people, and every room in this restaurant is simply stunning. You will want to make reservations well in advance for this place though, especially if you want a specific date.

But if you go to Mastro’s, enjoy the food on their extremely hot plates, get a table upstairs and as a woman you MUST go to the restroom because you will never look at another restroom where you do your business the same again.

Sushi Sasabune

Style: Sushi Heaven

Sushi SasabuneYou aren’t going to find your run of the mill sushi here, this restaurant takes its name and inspiration a Japanese word meaning to trust me, or as they interpreted it, the entire menu here is the chef’s choice. It’s not about going in and ordering your every day California Roll, it’s so much better than that.

All you have to do is sit there and enjoy as the chef creates masterpiece and masterpiece for you. The menu for any given night is based on what fresh local ingredients Chef Nobi can get his hands on, and how they inspire him. Sasabune is a great concept for a fine dining experience. They make their own sauces, so be prepared for flavor profiles you won’t have seen anywhere else.

This is the place to go when you are looking for a big night out. Yes it’s expensive, but it truly is an experience of a lifetime. Never knowing what the Chef will prepare for you is a culinary adventure.

Atmosphere here is cool and casual, not overly trendy, but don’t be surprised if you see a celebrity at the table next to you.
