Bayona in the French quarter of New Orleans is a remarkable restaurant situated in a 200 year old cottage that has a lush and romantic courtyard. The renowned restaurant has been regarded as one of the best around town and Susan Spicer has been serving contemporary American fare for more than 2 decades. The interior is lovely and picturesque having stunning murals and pictures plus fresh flower arrangements.
The every changing menu is updated weekly but has some staple specialty dishes like veal sweetbreads in a sherry and mustard butter, duck breast served with confit crepe, and peppered loin of lamb in Zinfandel sauce. Make sure to leave room for dessert with delightful treats like chocolate and bourbon panna cotta and caramel and chocolate hazelnut tart served with earl grey flavoured ice cream.

Clancy’s an Uptown New Orleans restaurant is an off the beaten tourist path restaurant that offers upscale Creole soul food since the 1940’s. The nostalgic restaurant transports diners to a bygone era with a classical décor and ambiance, old fashioned soul food and impeccable service. Sauteed veal and fried oyster with crabmeat salad would be a great choice for lunch; mushroom and lobster risotto, smoked pork loin, and grilled lamb chops are recommended dinner options.
Clancy’s wine cellar is arguably the best in town which is evident from the very long drinks list and the many bottles on display. Both local and international fine wines are on offer.

Herbsaint in the Central Business District is a wonderful Cajun Southern inspired fusion restaurant owned by Chef Donald Link. The stylish restaurant also has a bar that offers local and international fine wines (French and Italian). The outdoor seating area is perfect for luncheons or late afternoon meals while the stylish dining area can be a great spot for a romantic dinner.
The menu offers local Creole cuisine infused with French and Italian flavours with dishes like Kurubuta pork belly with Cajun grain risotto, Muscovy duck confit with dirty rice, and grilled chicken with crawfish. Their gumbo specialty is of course a must try but it is served with only in the afternoons, along with a lighter bistro menu from 1:30pm – 5pm.

The atmosphere at Maurepas Foods is lively especially in the day time, but it could get quite romantic in the evening when the dining and bar area are dimly lit.

Sylvain Restaurant and Bar in the French Quarter opened in 2012 but its name came from a comic opera from 1792 and it is situated in a refurbished carriage house that was built in the same year. Owner Sean McCusker procured many antique items to have a good balance of the old and the new, creating a very welcoming ambiance.

The restaurant serves American gastropub fare with scrumptious dishes like crispy duck confit with black eye peas and sprouts, and hangar steak with polenta and greens. The Sylvian burger with cheddar cheese and braised short-rib hash are superb brunch choices.
